Nº 153 weekly devotions to refresh your soul by Dr. Dan Bolin - JULY 6, 2021
“God’s unfailing love for us is an objective fact affirmed over and over in the Scriptures. It is true whether we believe it or not. Our doubts do not destroy God’s love, nor does our faith create it. It originates in the very nature of God, who is love, and it flows to us through our union with His beloved Son.” - Jerry Bridges
The team’s owner coughed up over half a billion dollars to convince the superstar athlete to play for his team. That’s a lot of money, even for a 10-year commitment. The owner desperately wanted him and was willing to pay that astronomical price to sign him. Similarly, God desires for us to join His team. His payment far exceeded the measly half a billion dollars the team owner paid. And 10-years pales in comparison to an eternal relationship with God. Jesus used a similar illustration when describing the Kingdom of Heaven – not our desire to get in, but God’s passion to bring us in. “The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” (Matthew 13:45-46) Far beyond our desire to have a relationship with God is His longing for us to join His “team.” He lovingly seeks us and saves us. He is the one who made the excruciating sacrifice so that we could enter His Kingdom. He paid the unthinkable price of His Son to provide us access to a full, abundant, and eternal life with Him.
