Closer to Jesus, Closer to Others

“There is but one God, and they that serve him should be one. There is nothing that would render the true religion more lovely, or make more proselytes to it, than to see the professors of it tied together with the heart strings of love. If God be one, let all that profess him be of one mind, and one heart, and thus fulfill Christ's prayer, “that they all may be one.’”- Thomas Watson

One of most inspiring passages in the Bible says, “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’” (Revelation 7:9-10)

What a sight! People from every county, ethnic group, and language are gathered around Jesus, the Lamb of God. Together they are praising and glorifying the Lamb who is seated on his royal throne.

The attire is all the same – everyone is wearing the same heavenly robe – and they are all waving the same symbol, palm branches. The throng surges around Jesus in purity and peace. Together they shout the same chorus, thanking God for the gift of salvation that comes only through their relationship with Jesus.

That day is not yet, but until it comes, we should practice and prepare. Strive for purity, strive for peace, and draw closer and closer to Jesus. You might be amazed by who is standing next to you.
