God with us is eternity’s sonnet, heaven’s hallelujah, the shout of the glorified, the song of the redeemed, the chorus of the angels, the everlasting oratorio of the great orchestra of the sky. - Charles Spurgeon
PREVIEW – This December we have walked through five Christmas related passages – but none from the familiar Gospel accounts. We have looked at Genesis, Exodus, Ruth, and Haggai. Today we end the month with an amazing Christmas truth from 1 Timothy. Thanks for joining us and have a blessed 2026.
Step by step God has revealed Himself and His wonders to the world. What Abraham knew was eclipsed by what Moses knew. David grasped more than Moses. David’s understanding was surpassed by Isaiah, and on and on.
Then came Jesus. The writer of Hebrews tells us, In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets . . . but in these days he has spoken to us by his Son (Hebrews 1:1-2a).
One of the great truths that Jesus made clear was our eternal destiny with God. The foundational details had been emerging for centuries. Job, David, Daniel and others understood aspects of our forever relationship with God, but Christ’s teaching would provide a clear understanding of life evermore.
Paul explained to Timothy, It has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:10).
What we know about our forever relationship with God this Christmas is much greater than the Patriarchs and Prophets who anticipated their coming Savior. They responded in faith to the light that God provided them. Because of Christmas, enjoy the life and immortality Christ brought to light.
Excelsior,
