A Bug of Another

“Give up the struggle and the fight; relax in the omnipotence of the Lord Jesus; look up into His lovely face and as you behold Him, He will transform you into His likeness. You do the beholding – He does the transforming. There is no short cut to holiness.” - Alan Redpath

At a visitor’s center along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, I was confronted with grandfather temptation way beyond what I could endure! A simple black and white t-shirt, size 3T, covered with pictures of bugs.

But there’s more! Once in the sunlight, the bugs turn bright colors! Some reaction, way beyond my mental comprehension, occurs when the t-shirt enters the light, resulting in an amazing transformation!

What grandpa could not bring home that souvenir for his two-year-old grandson?!

More than 2,000 years ago, the Apostle John understood two transformations that occur in the light of a right relationship with God. He wrote, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

Walking in the light of a proper relationship with God leads to healthy relationships with others and results in our own personal purity. Unfortunately, these two things also disappear when we retreat into the dark shadows of our self-centered, sinful isolation.

Walk in the light of a healthy relationship with God, and you, too, will see a transformation that place that is far beyond our comprehension.
