The vinedresser is never nearer the branches than when he is pruning them. - David Jeremiah

Most mornings Cay and I walk a four-mile loop. One stretch passes a beautifully well-maintained garden. We often comment on the gorgeous colors, well-kept landscape, and the quite solitude.

Last week we encountered a master gardener and five friends busily trimming the bushes and mulching the beds. We thanked them for their gift to the community!

Whether producing flowers or fruit, great gardens require a master gardener.

Fortunately, we have a Master Gardener who works in our lives, trimming away what should not be there and providing the spiritual mulch we need to grow.

Jesus described God the Father as a Gardener who works in our lives to help us bear the most fruit possible. He said, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” (John 15:1-2)

Allow God to work in your life. Let Him prune away what should not be there and receive the truth and encouragement He provides to help you grow. He wants to produce fruit and beauty in our lives so that we can bless others along life’s path.
