“The wonder of the high priestly ministry of Christ lies not just in where he is, but in who he is. Where he is we may boldly go; he has opened the way to the sanctuary of heaven and the throne of grace. We know him because he has first known us, and knows us still in all our helplessness and need.” - Edward Clowney
Nº 389
My nephew travels with a major country music group. His contribution is on the production team, working behind the scenes, out of the spotlight.
The band was performing near his parents’ home, so he secured tickets for them to enjoy the show. After a thunderous encore, the crowd filed out - all but his parents. They had been instructed to wait in their seats where my nephew would find them and bring them backstage to meet the performers.
Eventually my nephew appeared, greeted his parents, and reviewed the show. A zealous usher approached the gathering and insisted they leave the arena. My nephew flashed his all-access credential and said, “They’re with me.” The usher pivoted and let the reunion proceed.
“They’re with me” made all the difference. The parents’ access to the arena, the backstage tour, and introductions to the artists were based upon the credentials of their son. That relationship made all the difference.
Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) A relationship with Jesus allows us the benefits of His all-access credentials. Our only access to the Father is through a relationship with His Son.
