The only thing of our very own which we contribute to our salvation is the sin which makes it necessary. - William Temple

I recently saw a list of salaries paid to the World Series-winning Los Angeles Dodgers. Millions and millions of dollars paid just to play baseball. Many of the star players had been members of other teams, but the Dodgers offered massive amounts of money to entice the best performers to move to Los Angeles.

What if God recruited you to be on His team? How much would He pay to persuade you to leave whatever “team” holds your allegiance and become one of His stars?

Much more than the millions of dollars that the Dodgers handed out to attract their team members to LA, God the Father gave the life of His one and only Son to recruit us to His team.

John wrote about God’s love for us. “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)

God’s offer is on the table. Like baseball’s free agents, we must decide on our team.

Excelsior,
