The most holy and important practice in the spiritual life is the presence of God - that is, every moment to take great pleasure that God is with you. - Brother Lawrence

Several years ago, a friend of mine had the opportunity to meet a member of his country’s royal family. Before meeting the distinguished and powerful lady, a protocol officer explained how to act in her presence: when to stand, when to sit, what to say, what to do, and what not to do.
My friend wanted to greet her with honor, respect, deference, and appreciation, but he also wanted to express his appreciation for all she had done for him and their country. Balancing respect and gratitude became a challenge.
Christians enjoy the privilege of accessing the King of Kings. The writer of Hebrews tells us, “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience.” (Hebrews 10:22)
The King of Kings invites us to approach Him, but there is only one appropriate way to enter His presence. Two verses earlier the protocol for access to God is explained: “We have confidence to enter the Holy Place by the blood of Jesus.” (Hebrews 10:20) Access to God is through His Son. Enjoy Jesus’ cleansing and meet often with the King.
