LET PEACE BLOSSOM

“Do not strive in your own strength; cast yourself at the feet of the Lord Jesus, and wait upon Him in the sure confidence that He is with you, and works in you. Strive in prayer; let faith fill your heart–so will you be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” - Andrew Murray

In a world filled with uncertainty, the stability of springtime feels reassuring. Somehow, a fresh start blooms with the cherry trees surrounding the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. Each spring, these magnificent national treasures erupt in a stunning array of pink hope for a better tomorrow.

Oddly, constancy comes with the change of season. The blossoming trees bring assurance that all is well. The consistent rhythm of change provides hope and confidence.

In Israel, the almond tree is the first to bud each spring. Jeremiah saw it and knew that change was on its way. God asked, “‘What do you see, Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” . . . The LORD said . . ., “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.’” (Jeremiah 1:11-12).

As surely as springtime follows winter, Jeremiah – and us today – can know that God remains in control and His word will be fulfilled.

In this turbulent, uncertain world, remember Jesus’ words, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
