Nº 401
We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine. - D.L. Moody
The first day of creation must have been spectacular. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (Genesis 1:3) Day one of creation went from utter darkness to brilliant light.
But that was just the beginning. Another light shined forth when Jesus came out of the tomb - the first day of a new creation. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12). The darkness of the grave was shattered by the light of Easter.
The imagery of light shines throughout the Bible. In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, You are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14) Like the sun, Jesus is the source of light, and like the moon, we reflect His light to those around us.
God’s glorious plan began in eternity past and will continue forever. It shone through creation – Let there be light. It blazed in the resurrection – I am the light of the world. And the glow continues in each of our lives – you are the light of the world.
Keep the light of Easter shining; reflect God’s light to a needy world.
Excelsior,
