How Big is Your God?

Nº 427
Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. - Corrie ten Boom
Perspective is critically important.
When David went to fight Goliath, soldiers from both armies knew he would be killed. Goliath was huge; he towered over the little shepherd boy. David, however, thought, “He’s so big, how can I miss?”
When 12 spies scouted the land of Cannan, they all agreed the land was spectacular and would make a great home as God had promised. But 10 of them focused on the size of the enemy, and only two focused on the size of their God.
When Elisha’s servant arose early in the morning and saw the Aramean army surrounding Dothan, he was terrified. When Elisha awoke, he saw God’s army surrounding the invading army. Don’t be afraid, the prophet answered, Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. (2 Kings 6:16)
It is easy to look at our problems and feel defeated. The solution is to remember that the God of David, the two spies, and Elisha is our God as well. No sin we commit, no mistake we make, and no problem we face is greater than the One who said, In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
