Prayer turns ordinary mortals into men of power. It brings power. It brings fire. It brings rain. It brings life. It brings God. - Samuel Chadwick
As a child, I attended a camp that encouraged Bible memorization. One of the verses I learned when I was about 10 years old was, “Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
The verse has three parts. First, God’s desire for us to talk to Him, to call out to Him for help and direction. There are things we do not know, but God sees the big picture and wants us to call to Him.
Second, the rock-solid confidence that God will hear and respond. His answer may not always be what I want to hear, but it will always be what is best.
And third, God has great and unsearchable things in store for us. We walk by faith and not by sight, but God sees the beginning from the end. What God has planned is better than anything we could imagine.
I remember sitting on a log by the side of a river thinking about this amazing verse and wondering what great and unsearchable things God might have for me. Over 60 years later, I’ve experienced and still anticipate the great and unsearchable things God has in store.
