Taste & See

“God knows what you need. He knows what is best for you—including in what quantity. The fact is, we can live with very little, but we can never truly live without God. He is what we need first, foremost, and always. He is the only one whom we truly can’t do without!” - Charles Stanley

Cay and I don’t watch a lot of movies but over the Christmas holiday we saw the new Star Wars film. We liked it!

When the lights went dim a seemingly endless stream of brief movie trailers gave us a taste of all the next great shows we need to see. Many I’ll never watch, but a few of the previews were interesting, exciting, and caught my attention. Each of the brief introductions was designed to entice me to come back, buy a ticket (and popcorn) and see the full movie.

David identified many types of people in Psalm 34: afflicted, afraid, poor, brokenhearted, crushed in spirit, and righteous with many troubles. In their problem- filled and painful lives David encourages them to, “taste and see that the Lord is good.” The result would be, “blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8)

Whatever your circumstances, whatever problems you may be facing, the invitation is always there: “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Discover what God can do for you; just give Him a try. The taste will bring you back for more, and you will find the healthy refuge we all desire.
