Prayer Power

Prayer is the easiest and hardest of all things; the simplest and the sublimest; the weakest and the most powerful; its results lie outside the range of human possibilities-they are limited only by the omnipotence of God. ~ E.M. Bounds

Cay and I prayed for a friend’s problem for over a year. Sometimes out of habit, sometimes out of duty, and sometimes with sincere hope that God would move in a miraculous way. But somewhere in the back of my mind I always thought, “This is never going to happen.”

And then we got a call - problem resolved, prayers answered.

Oh me of little faith! I had gone through the motions and said the words, but I didn’t think God would do anything. I had forgotten that God really does care and really does respond to our requests.

Luke recorded an insightful parable that Jesus used to teach His disciples about prayer. He began, “Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” (Like 18:1)

Paul also said a lot about prayer. He exhorted the Colossians and us, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)

Don’t be afraid to ask God for what appears to be impossible. And don’t give up. Be thankful that God hears our prayers. Be thankful that God responds to our requests. And be thankful that He gives us only what is best.
