Fine Print
Nº 155 weekly devotions to refresh your soul by Dr. Dan Bolin - JULY 20, 2021
“If you wish to know God, you must know His Word. If you wish to perceive His power, you must see how He works by His Word. If you wish to know His purpose before it comes to pass, you can only discover it by His Word.” - Charles Spurgeon
The computer’s pop-up notice said clicking continue meant I had read and agreed to the 17 pages of tiny, single-spaced print. Never gunna happen! I gave up feeling guilty over not reading the fine print a long time ago. I know it is important, but I just want to know the critical details, not every detail. The Bible, though long and confusing in places with some laborious sections, has no fine print. It is all important. But we sometimes get lost in the details and miss the big picture. The Apostle John captured the Bible’s clear and concise message in one short verse, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) God’s love for us motivated Him to send His Son to die in our place, taking the punishment for our sins. Our response is simply to believe in Him and when we do, we enter a relationship with God that provides us with an eternally transformed life. The fine print is important. Dive into the details but never lose sight of the heart of the story, God’s love for us.
