Beyond the Comma

There are better things ahead than any we leave behind. - C.S. Lewis
I promise, this will be my last Narnian reference – for a while. During July, I reread The Last Battle, the seventh and final book in the Chronicles of Narnia series by C. S. Lewis.
As the story draws to a close the characters find themselves in a new yet familiar world; it looked like Narnia, only better. Jewel the Unicorn spoke, “I have come home at last! This is my real country! I belong here. This is the land I have been looking for all of my life, though I never knew it. The reason I loved the Old Narnia is that it sometimes looked a little like this.”
We have clues about heaven, but the details remain foggy. John records, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. . . I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God...” (Revelation 21:1-2a).
Heaven is real. Eternity is long. Death is a comma.
A cemetery plot is not our final stop. Our final resting place is a far better life that Christ is preparing for us. We should prepare today for life beyond the comma.
